Quick Answer
Bluebot connects to your network during setup using the Bluebot app. Wi-Fi models require a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, while LoRaWAN models connect through a gateway. For best results, complete setup near your router, then move the device to its install location.
Before You Start
Make sure you have:
Your Bluebot powered on
The Bluebot app installed
Your Wi-Fi network name and password (Wi-Fi models)
Your gateway powered and online (LoRaWAN models)
Step 1: Check Wi-Fi Strength (Wi-Fi Models Only)
Bluebot works best when installed within 30–40 feet of a strong Wi-Fi signal.
How to check:
Connect your phone to your Wi-Fi
Stand where you plan to install Bluebot
Check your signal strength
What to look for:
2 or more bars: Good
1 bar or less: Connection may be unstable
→ Consider a Wi-Fi extender
If signal is strong but connection fails, interference may be the cause.
Step 2: Put Bluebot into Setup Mode
Plug in your Bluebot
Press and hold the power button for 5–10 seconds
Release when the LED turns solid green
Solid green means Bluebot is in setup mode and ready to pair.
Step 3: Join Bluebot During Setup
Follow the in-app prompts
When the Join prompt appears, tap it right away
(This can take up to 30 seconds)
Tip:
If you wait too long, the setup process may restart. Just repeat Step 2 if needed.
Step 4: Select Your Network
Choose your Wi-Fi network from the list
Enter your password
Continue setup
Important Wi-Fi Notes
Bluebot supports 2.4 GHz networks only
Dual-band networks are OK if 2.4 GHz is available
If your network has no password, enter one space in the password field to continue
Step 5: Confirm Connection
Watch the LED during connection:
Solid blue: Connected and online
Red: Connection failed (check Wi-Fi name, password, and signal strength)
Once connected, the app will confirm success.
Step 6: Move to Install Location
After pairing:
Unplug Bluebot
Take it to the install location
Plug it back in
Bluebot will automatically reconnect to your network.
Strong Wi-Fi is preferred, but some installs may work with a weaker signal.
Connecting with LoRaWAN (EcoLink & ProLink)
LoRaWAN models do not use Wi-Fi at the meter. They connect through a gateway.
If Your Gateway Uses Ethernet
Power everything off:
Modem
Router
Gateway
Bluebot
Power devices back on in this order:
Modem → Router → Gateway → Bluebot
Wait for each device to fully come online before continuing
If Your Gateway Uses Cellular (LTE)
Confirm the SIM card is installed correctly
Confirm the gateway is powered
Cellular must be preconfigured
Bluebot will automatically connect when powered on.
Add the Device in the App
After the gateway is online:
Open the app
Complete device registration
Add Bluebot to your account
If Connection Still Fails
Try connecting Bluebot to a mobile hotspot
If hotspot works → issue is your network
Try a different phone or tablet
Restart the setup process
If problems persist, contact Bluebot Support and include:
Device model
LED color
Network type (Wi-Fi or LoRaWAN)
