Moving, Reinstalling, or Replacing Ultrasonic Pads on Bluebot

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Quick Answer

You can safely move Bluebot to a new pipe or location, clean or replace the ultrasonic pads if needed, and then reinstall the device. Proper pad care and re-adding the device in the app ensures accurate readings after a move.

Moving Bluebot to a New Location

Remove Bluebot from the Pipe

  1. Unplug the Bluebot from power

  2. Use both hands to open the clamps

  3. Gently rock the device side to side to break the suction from the ultrasonic pads

  4. Remove the device from the pipe

If the pads look dirty:

  • Lightly wipe them with a damp cloth

  • If pads are heavily soiled, they should be replaced

Remove Bluebot from the App (Before Reinstalling)

Before reinstalling Bluebot on a new pipe, remove it from the app.

  1. Open the Bluebot app

  2. Go to the device list

  3. Swipe left on the device name

  4. Confirm removal

This removes the device from the active group but does not delete your data.

You can now set the device up again following the normal setup flow.

Cleaning vs. Replacing Ultrasonic Pads

When Cleaning Is Enough

Bluebot comes with ultrasonic pads pre-installed. If:

  • Pads are clear

  • You can see through them

  • There is only light grime or cloudiness

You can clean them:

  • Use warm water and mild soap

  • Gently wipe with a soft cloth

  • Let them air dry before reinstalling

Bluebot is waterproof, so cleaning the pads will not damage the device.

When Pads Should Be Replaced

Replace the pads if:

  • They are heavily soiled

  • They no longer stick well

  • They are damaged or opaque

Any dirt, paint, or debris on the pads or pipe can weaken the ultrasonic signal and affect accuracy.

How to Replace Ultrasonic Pads

  1. Use the silver C-holders to prop the Bluebot clamps open

  2. Slide one C-holder onto each open arm

  3. Carefully peel off the old pads (start from the edges and take your time)

Install New Pads

  1. Each white circular sensor needs one new pad

  2. Remove the protective backing from the pad

  3. Place the pad directly over the clear sensor window

    • The stickier side should face the sensor when possible

    • The less sticky side should face the pipe

This helps keep the pads attached to the device during future removal.

Finishing Up

  1. Carefully remove the C-holders from each arm

  2. Ensure the clamps close smoothly

  3. Bluebot is now ready to rescan or reinstall on the pipe

After Reinstallation

Once Bluebot is reinstalled:

  • Follow the app prompts to complete setup

  • Allow the device to rescan the pipe

  • Confirm normal readings in the app
